Here are some interesting statistics about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals.

  • Gay, lesbian, and bisexual orientation was associated with having had sexual intercourse before 13 years of age
  • Two out of five youth did not feel safe in their school because they are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or questioning
  • Gay, lesbian, and bisexual youth were more than four times as likely to report being threatened with a weapon on school property
  • Gay, lesbian, and bisexual youth were more than three times as likely to have attempted suicide in the past 12 months
  • Nearly 40 percent of students between the ages of 16 and 18 said that they are prejudice against homosexuals
  • 25 percent of teenagers are thrown out of their homes when they "come out" to family members
  • Only the city of Tuscon includes gender identity as a protected class in Arizona
  • Most hate crimes against gay and lesbians are because of their gender expression, not their sexual orientation
  • It is estimated that up to 60,000 US citizens identify as transsexual
  • At least one third of transsexuals in the US commit suicide
  • At least one transsexual per month across the USA is killed in a hate crime
